Animals really are a man’s best friend, but instead of owning a run-of-the-mill pet pooch, people around the world have gone above and beyond for the most incredible animal and human friendships.

Whilst most people would be terrified to find a brown bear in their backyard, there are others who couldn’t live without one - or in Johnny Welde’s case - 13 of them.

The love people have for their animals can sometimes make them to go extreme lengths. Rose Ann Bolasny adores her pampered pooch Bella Mia so much that the Maltese is set to inherit her owner’s fortune when she passes away.
