The colossal 175lb pit bull went on the attack and apprehended the invader after being ordered into action by owner Lisa Grennan, of protection dog breeders Dark Dynasty K9s.

Luckily for Lisa, 28, and husband Marlon Grennan, 31, the burglary was part of a simulated home invasion scenario, with trainer Jeff Cummings the man behind the mask.

The high-impact stunt features in the new season of Barcroft TV’s hit online show Dog Dynasty, which has racked up more than 150 million views on YouTube and Facebook.

The show follows the fortunes of Hulk and the other DDK9 protection dogs which sell for between $5000 and $25,000 and has catapulted Hulk to global superstardom, with the loveable giant having his own literary agent, dog food brand and merchandise line.

This season also sees Hulk taking advantage of his fame to star in a rap video, while Marlon and Lisa reflect on the tragic death of their top ‘demo dog’ Ace, who was brutally killed by two of their other dogs.

The opening installment, which premieres this Friday, also sees Hulk take down an attempted carjacker while Hulk’s son Kobe deals with an attempted armed robbery.

The exercises replicate dangerous situations that Marlon’s high-profile, celebrity clients might face as a result of their immense wealth.

Marlon, who built his successful dog breeding business from nothing, told Barcroft TV: “The irony of this for me is that I have become one of these high profile people myself who would require one of these dogs.

"People love the footage watching videos of my dogs diving through cars or jumping up walls, but my dogs are trained to protect.

"Where we live is super remote, so I need to know that my dogs will step up and protect my family when I need them to."

And according to owner Marlon, this was the first time Hulk had ever faced a home invasion protection scenario.

He said: “It’s always a risk when a dog is doing something new. I know the world thinks that the dog is just going to protect and think that all this stuff is going to come out of the blue, but there is extensive training that goes into these dogs.

“If a dog has never seen this scenario it’s perfectly okay in a training situation for him not to react the way he’s supposed to the first time. But that didn’t happen here, and that’s what impressed me the most.”

The exercise saw trainer Jeff, sporting a mask so Hulk wouldn’t recognize him, climbing through a window into the family’s living room, where Lisa was relaxing with pet puppy Nicki Minaj.

As Lisa shouted a command, Hulk leapt into action, apprehending the armed intruder and pinning him to the floor until ordered to let go.

Marlon said: "I was really proud of him, really proud of how fast he reacted, it takes a certain type of dog to react to a situation in that way.

"I’m beyond happy with him honestly. Jeff came right through the window, Lisa said one word and he was on it and that how it needs to be.

"I know now without a shadow of a doubt somebody comes through that window that is exactly what that dog is going to do.

"If that dog is told to apprehend he is going to, he’s not going to hesitate. Hesitation gets you killed in this business."

As well as his mask and imitation firearm, trainer Jeff also made the decision to wear a thin hidden sleeve, rather than a bulkier training sleeve to make the attack more realistic.

Speaking after the training scenario, a visibly bruised Jeff said: "I dodged the hospital for today but I’m bit sore. A little icing though and I should be fine.

“The hidden sleeve is mangled though, you can see the mouth imprints!”

Marlon added: “The reality of the situation is these hidden sleeves are not made for dogs like Hulk. We’re actually working with our sponsors on getting one made that is double reinforced, and can actually be made for a dog like this because it’s an extremely painful experience.

"I say that with a smile, but these dogs could literally send you to the hospital or break your ams."

And not content with leaving all the attacking to Hulk, tiny pup Nicki Minaj also joined in to help fight off the attacker during the scenario.

Lisa said: "I definitely think Nicki has the potential to do protection work. She is great, she loves to bite and she has great drive, she is fearless.

"I was proud of her - at one point she tried to bite Jeff’s head, she wanted to get it on the action."

Dog Dynasty season 3 is available on Barcroft Animals YouTube page and the Dog Dynasty Facebook Watch page, starting Friday 30 November.
